Indonesian U-21 women's national volleyball team coach Marcos Sugiyama expressed his appreciation for the new format adopted for the 2025 Women's U-21 Volleyball World Championship.
This edition is the first edition of the tournament which is intended for this age group and is attended by 24 countries.
"This is good, this is good. It opens up more possibilities for other countries to enter another stage," said Marcos Sugiyama.
This tournament, held for the first time in Surabaya, East Java, also implemented regulations regarding naturalized players. Under the new rules, each country can only register one naturalized player.
Sugiyama said that with more countries competing, the competition will grow even more.
