Tijuana, August 2. A group of teachers belonging to Section 37 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) demonstrated this morning at the Baja California government offices to demand immediate retroactive pay and timely payment to temporary workers.
Teacher Edgardo García explained that the state administration has debts with more than 15,000 teachers .
In the case of the retroactive payment, he noted that it is an amount of approximately 15,000 pesos that should have been deposited since the first half of July, as the federal government does.
He lamented that Baja California is one of the few states where teachers are experiencing this situation, which adds to other grievances, such as delayed payments to temporary and retired teachers.
In addition to the state government's failure to respond to their demands, their union has failed to provide the expected support and has even requested that this Friday's protest not take place.
He added that they hope the authorities will commit to paying them this week, otherwise, they won't rule out other measures, such as taking over toll booths .
