The chairman of Perbati warned of stiff competition at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Boxing Association Ray Zulham Farras Nugraha, has asked all Indonesian boxers to prepare for the tough competition at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, which will take place from December 10 to 19.

To prepare for the Southeast Asian multi-event championship, Perbati is sending its athletes to undergo training camps in Vietnam and Uzbekistan starting in early September.

"Never be complacent with what you've achieved. Instead, continue to improve your training and implement all the programs your coaches have developed to achieve even better results. Competition at the 2025 SEA Games will be fierce, especially as boxing is a mainstay for host Thailand," said Ray Zulham Farras Nugraha in an official statement on Wednesday.

According to Ray, Indonesian boxers really need very qualified opponents in the SEA Games training camp, therefore two countries, namely Vietnam and Uzbekistan, were chosen as training locations.

At the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, a total of 17 gold medals will be competed for, with nine men's and eight women's categories competing.

The Indonesian boxing team will compete in a total of 13 weight classes, despite receiving a quota of 16 weight classes for this 33rd edition of the event.

"We will only field boxers in 13 weight classes, and their names will be announced later. The best will definitely be included in the Indonesian contingent," Ray said.

Regarding the target, Ray revealed that the Red and White team could at least win one gold medal at the championship which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ahead of the 2025 SEA Games, the Indonesian team gained valuable capital after winning six medals at the 2025 Taipei City International Boxing Tournament.

The six medals won were three gold medals won by Nila Maharani (women's featherweight), Maikhael Robet Muskita alias Muskita (light heavyweight), and Asri Udin (lightweight) who also won the title of best boxer.

Then, two silver medals were won by Israel AB Saweho (women's minimum class) and Aldom Sugoru (bantam class) and one bronze medal was won by Huswatun Hasanah (women's lightweight class).

"We are proud of the struggle of the children in Taipei. This is proof that with hard work, discipline and consistent coaching, Indonesian boxing can be victorious again," said Ray.
