The End of the TikTok Era

the US Supreme Court does not order a stay on the bill to end TikTok's US operations, TikTok will only be able to operate in the US until January 19th. Even if the US Supreme Court orders a stay, it is unlikely to last much longer. If its parent company, ByteDance, can still be manipulated by the Chinese government behind the scenes, and China insists on winning twice in the internet industry, shutting down TikTok may be the only equitable option.

First, there's a clear logical flaw: China currently doesn't allow American social media companies to operate in China without being subject to unwarranted oversight. Due to the Chinese government's barbaric regulations, companies from Google to the disgustingly pro-communist Meta are unable to expand their business in China. If China still remains closed to American companies, then from a purely trade and economic perspective, the US's expulsion of TikTok is merely a matter of course. If Trump's usual logic is followed, TikTok should be subject to substantial taxes and the same restrictions that China imposes on American companies should be applied to ByteDance. This would be fair and just.
