The Year of the Snake has ushered in many people to celebrate the New Year together. However, for political prisoners imprisoned in Hong Kong and their families, spending the New Year with their loved ones is more challenging. Last November, Liu Yingkuang was sentenced to four years and five months in prison in the 47-person primary election case. His girlfriend, Emilia (Huang Yuqiao), told this station in an exclusive interview that Liu often pressured her into marriage, but she described their relationship as something beyond marriage, unconstrained by any definition. Emilia admitted to feeling lost as she welcomed her fourth New Year without being able to embrace him, but said it pales in comparison to the pain of her boyfriend's imprisonment.
