Mexicali, January 9. During 2025, the Mexicali City Council will allocate 557 million pesos to cover the shortfall in pension payments from the Institute of Social Security and Services for Government and Municipal Workers of the State of Baja California (ISSSTECALI).
Municipal Treasurer Roger Sosa Alaffita said the amount is based on the latest notification from the state Treasury Department, but could increase throughout the year.
He mentioned that during 2024 they had been notified of 393 million and in the end it was 450 million.
The municipal official said that they still owe 200 million by 2024.
No agreement for debt with SAT
The city has a historic tax credit with the Tax Administration Service (SAT) that currently amounts to 230 million pesos.
The above is derived from the failure to pay the ISR since the administration of the PRI member Francisco Pérez Tejada (2010-2013).
A legal appeal was filed by the municipal authority, and the SAT won the legal dispute months ago.
