Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized the government's commitment to farmers by raising the government purchase price (HPP) for unhusked rice and daring to confront the rice mafia to protect the interests of farmers and consumers, as well as maintain national food stability.
The Minister of Agriculture stated that one of the main policies is to increase the government purchase price (HPP) for unhusked rice to IDR 6,500 per kilogram, as a manifestation of the government's support for farmers, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direct instructions.
"We care deeply about farmers, which is why we raised the HPP (the government's purchase price for unhusked rice) to Rp6,500 (per kg) on the orders of the President (Prabowo Subianto)," the Minister of Agriculture said in a statement.
The Minister of Agriculture explained that the increase in the HPP has successfully driven up the Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP), thereby improving farmers' welfare, which also demonstrates the government's seriousness in protecting agricultural businesses from price pressures.
