Pelindo affirms its commitment to restoring 100 hectares of mangrove ecosystem.

Pelindo has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring up to 100 hectares of mangrove ecosystems in various operational areas by planting 1,500 mangrove seedlings in the coastal area of Tambak Lorok, Semarang, Central Java.

"Mangroves not only protect against abrasion and seawater intrusion, but also serve as an important habitat for marine life and support the livelihoods of coastal communities," said Ali Sodikin, Group Head of Pelindo's Corporate Secretariat, in a written statement received.

He said Pelindo, as the largest state-owned port operator in Indonesia, has an interest in preserving the marine ecosystem around its operational areas.

"Ports are inseparable from the sea. Therefore, preserving the coastal environment, including mangroves, is part of our responsibility to ensure sustainable port activities," said Ali.

He explained that these activities, which focus on environmental sustainability, are also expected to have an economic impact.
