Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has asked all regional heads to consider social aspects in formulating policies to ensure they are more pro-people.
This was conveyed by Tito in Denpasar, Friday, in response to the incident in Pati, Central Java, where Regent Sudewo increased the 2025 rural and urban land and building tax (PBB-P2) by up to 250 percent, which he said did not take into account the community's capabilities.
"I ask other regional heads to consider not only the legal and normative aspects of policies, but also the social aspects, including their impact on society," he said.
It is known that the tax increase intended for development in the area was ultimately cancelled, but Sadewo said that the cancellation of the tax increase had an impact on the postponement of a number of development projects.
