Displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to Sudan
In a related development, the Associated Press reported that Israel is holding talks with South Sudan about the possibility of "transferring" Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to the East African country. This is part of Tel Aviv's US-sponsored forced displacement plan, which has faced widespread Arab, Islamic, and international rejection due to its violation of international and humanitarian law.
The US agency quoted six unnamed people familiar with the matter as saying that "talks have already taken place between Israel and South Sudan, which is suffering from a financial crisis (and has suffered from a civil war for years), but it is not clear how far these talks have progressed."
South Sudanese authorities were not immediately available for comment on the report. The agency also reported that the Israeli Foreign Ministry declined to comment. South Sudan's foreign minister did not respond to questions about the talks. A US State Department spokesperson said the department does not comment on private diplomatic talks.
The Associated Press reported that "if these talks become an agreement, they will help South Sudan build closer ties with Israel, which is a potential opportunity to implement US President Donald Trump's plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza, which he proposed last February but has apparently backed down from in recent months."
The agency reported that it had previously reported on "similar talks initiated by Israel and the United States with Sudan and Somalia, two countries also suffering from war and famine, as well as the breakaway Somali region known as Somaliland. The fate of these discussions is unknown."
In a related development, the privately owned Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israel is holding talks with five countries, including South Sudan, regarding the resettlement of forcibly displaced persons from Gaza. The newspaper noted that South Sudan's deputy foreign minister visited Israel last week, without further details.
Earlier, the private Israeli Channel 12 reported that the head of the Israeli Mossad, David Barnea, met with the US envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, in Washington and requested his assistance in displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Gaza to countries such as Libya. This news was strongly denied by Libya, as was the US embassy in Tripoli.

The Israeli genocide left 61,499 Palestinians dead, 153,575 injured, and more than 9,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and a famine claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
