The Indonesian U-21 men's national volleyball team is targeting at least a place in the round of 16 of the 2025 U-21 World Volleyball Championship.

This was conveyed by the General Chairman of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI), Imam Sudjarwo, who revealed that at least the Garuda Muda team must qualify for the knockout stage first.

"The important thing for our Indonesian men's national team is to take the first step to the round of 16. If we're going to make it to the round of 16, that's a must. After that, our motivation will naturally build. Thankfully, we've made it to the top eight," Imam Sudjarwo told ANTARA in Surabaya, East Java, on Sunday evening WIB.

Imam Sudjarwo revealed that the competition that the Red and White team will go through will not be easy because they will face strong countries from all over the world.

However, he is optimistic that Muhammad Darda and his friends will be able to speak volumes in the tournament that will take place in China.

"Yes, because the teams are indeed tough, 24 countries. But we're targeting the top 16, and then we'll be grateful to make it into the top eight," said Imam.

Later, the Red and White team, which is part of Pool D, will compete against Italy, Tunisia, Ukraine, Argentina and France.

The team coached by Anwar Sadat will take part in a tournament that will take place starting August 21.
