Monthly active users of Meta's Threads app have surpassed 400 million, according to Instagram's head Adam Mosseri in a post on the social media platform.
Mosseri said the platform's two-year journey began with a "crazy idea to compete with Twitter."
He's grateful that Threads has now evolved into a meaningful platform that encourages "an open exchange of perspectives."
According to a Phone Arena report on Tuesday (12/8), Threads was launched in July 2023 and has grown into one of the fastest-growing apps with an accumulated user base of 100 million within five days.
Initial user engagement for the app dropped dramatically shortly after the platform's launch. However, the platform subsequently experienced a steady increase in user numbers.
Threads' monthly active users, which were 175 million in mid-2024, increased to 300 million in December 2024, increased again to 350 million in April 2025, and now surpasses 400 million.
