Ciudad Juárez, Chih., April 13.- After hours of negotiations, and threats of eviction, the State Public Security Secretariat managed to get truck drivers crossing into the United States to remove the blockade of the Zaragoza Bridge that had lasted more than 24 hours.
Authorities had previously persuaded truckers on the Santa Teresa Bridge, bordering Sunland Park, New Mexico, to remove the blockade they had maintained in protest of the intensive cargo inspections ordered by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, which caused waits of several hours to reach their destinations.
The protests are against the inspections announced by the Texas governor on April 6 of commercial trucks coming from Mexico to detect migrants.
The Córdoba Bridge, where a trailer was stuck, had been closed by the U.S. government as a preventive and safety measure after seeing the convoy of trucks approaching the loading area.
