"We're vaccinated"; migrants protest Title 42 at the US Consulate

Tijuana, May 19.- Approximately 150 migrants protested in front of the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana to demand the repeal of Title 42 on May 23, a decision that is in the hands of a federal judge.

This time, Central American migrants, mostly Mexicans, were carrying negative COVID-19 tests and chanting slogans such as "We are vaccinated," "We don't have COVID," and "Out with Title 42, it's discrimination" to demand that this measure be repealed and thus avoid being returned to Mexico when seeking asylum and entering the United States.

Under Title 42, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determines which populations pose a risk to Americans and denies them entry to the country. If they do enter, they are expelled to Mexico.

They believe this measure should no longer be in effect, as it was imposed during the administration of former President Donald Trump, under health concerns and due to the pandemic.
