West Lombok Police examine policewoman, wife of the late Brigadier Esco

The West Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara, questioned the wife of the late Brigadier Esco Faska Rely, who was revealed to be a policewoman.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Syarif Hidayat, said in Mataram on Friday that Brigadier Esco's wife was one of dozens of witnesses questioned by the West Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"So, there have been dozens, around 23 people questioned, including the person who first discovered it, his co-workers, and his policewoman wife," he said.

Regarding the results of the examination of dozens of witnesses, Syarif refused to reveal them to the public, considering that the handling of this case is still in the investigation stage.

"Because this is still in the investigation stage, we will report developments later," he said.

He explained that it was possible that there would be additional questioning of witnesses following the police's efforts to request support from the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) in hacking Brigadier Esco's cellphone.

"Later the results of the cell analysis will be phone analysis again with the witness statements," he said.

Furthermore, Syarif emphasized that the handling of the death case of Brigadier Esco by the West Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit had become the attention of the NTB Regional Police.

Police now indicate that Brigadier Esco's death was caused by criminal assault. This was determined by the autopsy results from the forensic team at Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital.

Based on these findings, the investigation is now moving towards tracing the role of the perpetrator who assaulted Brigadier Esco.

"We will certainly do our best. This case has garnered public attention. We hope our efforts will shed some light. Please allow time to uncover this. The Police and the Regional Police... will do their best," he said.
