The instant messaging app WhatsApp is introducing several new protection features to detect and prevent fraudulent activities.
"WhatsApp continues to strengthen user protection by adding a new layer of security that supports machine learning technology to detect and block fraudulent accounts en masse," WhatsApp said in an official statement on Wednesday.
WhatsApp's protection features include context cards, easy blocking and reporting of suspicious messages, a feature to silence unknown callers, and privacy settings that give users control over who can add them to groups.
WhatsApp now displays a security notification when a user is added to a suspicious group by someone outside their contacts. Users will receive important information about the group and tips for maintaining security.
