The YouGov Indonesia Media Consumption Report 2025, launched by the research institute YouGov Indonesia, noted that YouTube and Instagram are the social media platforms most widely used by Indonesians.
YouTube is used by 81 percent of social media users in Indonesia, while Instagram is used by 74 percent of users.
In an online discussion on Thursday, YouGov Indonesia General Manager Edward Hutasoit explained that the two social media platforms are widely used by Gen Z and older generations
"YouTube is generally number one with 81 percent of social media users using YouTube. Gen Z also uses YouTube, of course, but it's more likely or more popular among older generations. Instagram is the second most used platform," said Edward.
Edward explained that both platforms tend to be used more by older generations. The older generation accounts for 84 percent of YouTube users, while Gen Z accounts for 78 percent.
