Amnesty International calls on Tel Aviv not to interfere with the Steadfastness Flotilla and to allow it to carry out its mission.

In a statement published on the X platform, the organization indicated that the flotilla represents "a powerful and inspiring expression of solidarity with Palestinians struggling to survive under the cruel and illegal Israeli blockade and the ongoing genocide in the occupied Gaza Strip."

She stressed that any attempt by Israel to prevent the flotilla from carrying out its peaceful mission "constitutes an attack on humanitarian principles and international law."

On Sunday, approximately 20 ships as part of the Steadfastness Flotilla departed from the Spanish port of Barcelona. A number of boats loaded with aid also departed from the port of Genoa in northwestern Italy on Monday, joining the flotilla in Sicily and then continuing their journey to Tunisian ports and then to Gaza.

The international organization noted that the launch of this mission by activists from nearly 50 countries "represents a condemnation of the international community's continued failure to pressure Israel to end its inhumane blockade, a requirement ordered three times by the International Court of Justice in 2024."

She noted that Palestinians in Gaza are facing starvation and "one of the worst man-made humanitarian disasters in the world."
