Apple announced a number of new health tracking features alongside the launch of its smartwatch line.
However, users do not have to buy a new device to enjoy it after the launch of the watchOS 26 operating system.
As reported by The Verge on Wednesday, through the smartwatch operating system watchOS 26 which will be released on September 15, 2025, health features will be present on the Apple Watch Series 9 and later, as well as the previous generation Watch Ultra 2.
One key feature is hypertension notification. Apple leverages the existing optical heart rate sensor to analyze the response of blood vessels to the user's heartbeat.
This data is then processed by an algorithm for 30 days, and users will receive an alert if signs of high blood pressure are detected.
