Trump wrote in a post on his Social Truth platform on Monday evening that he hopes Hamas understands what it could face if it "uses hostages as human shields," describing it as a "rarely occurring humanitarian crime."

Trump claimed to have seen a news report indicating that the movement "moved hostages to above-ground locations to use them as human shields against an Israeli ground assault."

Hamas responded with a statement saying, "Trump's statements regarding the occupation army's terrorist attack on Gaza City and the condition of the Zionist prisoners are a blatant bias toward Zionist propaganda and a blatant embodiment of double standards that overlook the crime of ethnic cleansing and the martyrdom of approximately 65,000 innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, most of whom were women and children."

She added, "The US administration knows that war criminal Netanyahu is working to destroy all chances of reaching an agreement that would lead to the release of prisoners and halt the brutal war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the criminal attack on the State of Qatar and the attempted assassination of the negotiating delegation during the discussion of Trump's final paper."

Last Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army launched an airstrike on a Hamas headquarters in the Qatari capital, Doha. Qatar condemned the attack, reiterating its right to respond to the "aggression," which resulted in the death of a member of the Internal Security Forces.

Hamas asserted that "the fate of the occupation army's prisoners in the Gaza Strip is determined by the terrorist Netanyahu government," adding that the "systematic destruction and fascist campaign of genocide" that Gaza City is being subjected to also threatens the lives of the captive soldiers.

The movement concluded its statement by emphasizing that "war criminal Netanyahu bears full responsibility for the lives of his prisoners in Gaza, and the US administration bears direct responsibility for the escalation of the brutal war of extermination in the Strip, through its support and deceptive policies to cover up the occupation's ongoing crimes for nearly two years."
