The National Narcotics Agency stated that urine tests among the academic community are a strategic step for early detection to prevent drug abuse and are also a concrete manifestation of the rectorate's commitment to proving itself as a role model in realizing a drug-free campus.
When receiving a visit from the Chancellor of Tarumanegara University and his staff the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Commissioner General of Police Suyudi Ario Seto, assessed that campuses are environments that are vulnerable to drug abuse, especially with the rampant circulation of new types of narcotics, including the use of e-cigarette (vape) liquids which are often misused as a medium for abusing dangerous substances.
"Therefore, cooperation with universities is very important," said Commissioner General Suyudi, as quoted in a written statement confirmed.
Suyudi also expressed his appreciation for the presence of the Chancellor of Tarumanegara University and his staff, and emphasized that handling narcotics problems cannot be done by the BNN alone, but requires support and collaboration from all elements of society, especially universities.
