Late-night scrolling has become a common habit in today's digital age, but staying up until two in the morning can have more than just dark circles under your eyes.
Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeon from Delhi, India, Dr. Dinesh Thakur, through an Instagram post, explained how lack of sleep affects overall health.
He highlights why prioritizing adequate rest is crucial for long-term well-being.
According to a study published on June 15, 2022, by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, sleeping less than seven to eight hours per night can significantly impact various aspects of health.
The study highlights that sleep deprivation can weaken the immune system, increase the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, and stroke, and impair cognitive functions such as attention and memory.
"You all will never sleep late again after knowing this. Sleeping late isn't just about dark circles, it's also secretly damaging your health in ways you never imagined," he said.
