Mexico City, September 11.- The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) announced that it has restored 99.5 percent of the electricity supply to the 187,889 users affected by Hurricane Kay in Baja California Sur, Baja California, and Sonora.
According to the company, the number of affected people represents 6 percent of the 3 million customers it has in those three states, and it has worked continuously to restore power.
In this regard, the CFE reported that 46,819 users were affected in Baja California Sur, and 98 percent of them have had their power restored; in Baja California, 128,925 users were affected, and 99 percent of their service has been restored; while the 12,145 affected users in Sonora have had their power fully restored.
He stated that the 945 users pending restoration are in an inaccessible area due to roadblocks caused by stream crossings, but that all safety measures are being taken to ensure that personnel can continue restoration efforts.
The CFE added that 617 electrical workers, 110 cranes, 125 vehicles, 39 emergency power plants, 12 lighting towers, and one helicopter have been deployed to respond to the contingency.
