Mexico City, September 24.- Between 750,000 and 1.5 million children and adolescents with conditions that negatively affect the immune system , as well as pregnant women , could receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Mexico . This applies to individuals between the ages of 12 and 17 .
Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion Hugo López-Gatell reported that the guidelines for this process will be published next Tuesday , and registration , on the same platform for adults ( mivacuna.salud.gob.mx ), will begin on October 1.
Likewise, starting in the first week of October, vaccination units will be prepared to identify the target population.
The official specified that in accordance with parameters set by international health organizations, which Mexico follows, the only vaccine authorized for this population group with morbidities is Pfizer 's .

These same international scientific agreements , he indicated, establish the priority of vaccinating adults , people 18 years of age and older.
The list of comorbidities notably includes diabetes , cancer , severe lung disease , HIV , liver , kidney and digestive diseases , heart and neurological conditions , obesity , genetic diseases , as well as teenage pregnancy .
