Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) company DeepSeek has issued new regulations that require all AI-generated content on its platform to be accompanied by an AI watermark , which cannot be removed by the content creator.
This change is part of a broader effort to make AI-generated content more transparent and less likely to be misused for negative purposes.
As reported by Gizmochina, Monday (1/9), this has begun to be implemented in China with the sending of an official notification from DeepSeek explaining that anything created by their AI system must now include clear signs indicating that the product was not made directly by humans.
These markers come in two forms: easily visible marks such as watermarks, and hidden technical marks embedded within the content itself.
Visible markers can be text that says “AI-generated,” an audio announcement, or a graphic that appears somewhere within the content.
