Egypt: We reject the displacement of Palestinians and condemn the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

This came during a joint press conference in Nicosia with Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kompous, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Abdel-Ati said that Egypt absolutely rejects the displacement of the Palestinian people and condemns Israel's continued expansion of its military operations in Gaza and its "practice of genocide and starvation policies against civilians."

The Egyptian minister stressed the need to "pressure Israel to halt its brutal aggression and respond to the ceasefire proposal accepted by Hamas but rejected by Tel Aviv," as well as to ensure the entry of urgent humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip, which is facing a humanitarian catastrophe that has reached the level of famine.

Abdel-Ati's remarks come as the Israeli occupation army escalated its bombardment of the remaining multi-story residential buildings in Gaza on Friday, in preparation for occupying the city. Fears are mounting for the fate of tens of thousands of displaced people trapped in areas subjected to intense bombardment.

On August 22, the UN Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared a famine in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli blockade, warning of its potential spread to other areas.
