France's data protection authority CNIL has fined Google for failing to comply with the country's rules on online tracking tools.
The CNIL announced it would impose a fine of 325 million euros (1 euro = Rp. 19,110) on the United States (US) technology giant, according to a statement on its website.
Since 2020, the CNIL has issued several sanctions on companies that failed to comply with legal requirements regarding ad trackers, the agency said.
CNIL added that Google also violated the rules by displaying ads in Gmail tabs without getting permission from users.
