It's not just about gender; we need transformative women": Sheinbaum in Ensenada

Ensenada, October 22.- "They are two arms, they cannot be separated, it cannot be just a question of gender, it has to be a woman and it has to be transformative" was the message from Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum when referring to the importance of women coming to power, during her visit to Ensenada.

The coordinator of the Fourth Transformation defense committees attended two events with MORENA members in the state: one private event with party leaders, mayors, and members of the party at a hotel, and a second event, accompanied by hundreds of members, at the municipal theater.

In his speech, he recognized Governor Marina del Pilar, the three Morena mayors from Mexicali, Tijuana, and Rosarito who were present during the event, as well as the local and federal representatives who also gathered at the municipal theater.

Referring to them, Sheinbaum Pardo recalled that these are different times for women: "We can be academics, scientists, we can be municipal presidents, we can be lawyers, we can be deputies, we can be senators."

Measures

Furthermore, the former head of government criticized the recent precautionary measures implemented by the National Electoral Institute, which include the doctor's events being restricted to indoor venues.

"We are here a little cramped in this auditorium because the National Electoral Institute, there are still some councilors there who form the majority, imposed some precautionary measures on us (...) They say it's because we have a lot of people at our events, we tell them that even if they want to lock us up, this movement will continue to grow and grow," said Sheinbaum Pardo.

Due to these precautionary measures, it was repeated several times that the message was only intended for MORENA supporters through the theater's loudspeakers.

Business sector

At the event, a group of business leaders from various sectors signed an agreement to join Dr. Sheinbaum's team. Among them were Pedro Montejo Peterson, president of INDEX Zona Costa BC (maquiladora industry), Gastón Toledo Castillo of PYE electrificaciones, and Mexicali council member and former gubernatorial candidate Oscar Vega Marin.
