Veteran striker Jamie Vardy revealed his reasons for joining Italian League club Cremonese after being announced as a new player at the end of this summer's transfer window.
According to the club's official website on Thursday, Vardy said it was indeed difficult to play in a different country but he had made the decision after speaking with his family and the Cremonese coaching staff.
"Thanks to technology, I was able to have a Zoom call with the manager. We spoke for 45 minutes to an hour, showing his passion for the club and how to make it happen," Vardy said.
"And just looking into his eyes and what he wanted, it really touched my heart, and I think as a footballer, it's always nice to feel needed," he added.
The 38-year-old said his family's presence was a moral support for him in joining Cremonese.
"Without their support, I wouldn't have been able to do anything. We know there are a lot of new things ahead and it might be difficult at first, but it's a challenge we've anticipated," Vardy explained.
