The only way to confront uncertainty, violence, and inequality is through cooperation and collaborative work “to give a voice to those who don’t have one and to those who have been forced to leave their homes and countries,” stated Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez, Undersecretary for Human Rights , Population, and Migration of the Ministry of the Interior, at the closing ceremony of the 26th Vice-Ministerial Meeting of the Regional Conference on Migration (CRM).
Mexico handed over the pro tempore presidency to El Salvador and reiterated its commitment to supporting the nation throughout its term.
Encinas Rodríguez highlighted the consensus reached for the signing of the vice-ministerial declaration, which "reflects our countries' commitment to human rights and comprehensive migration management. The CRM, of which 11 nations are members, has established itself as a forum for dialogue between governments that has prioritized participation, debate, and constructive criticism."
He acknowledged that there are still areas for improvement, "and we have a responsibility to improve the way we manage human mobility in all areas of migration" and promote actions that address the root causes of migration, as well as ensure that migration occurs in a regulated and risk-free manner.
