The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) wants the Amateur Boxing Association and the Indonesian Boxing Association to unite to develop the sport of boxing in the country.
"Frankly, this dualism is undesirable for all parties. We hope that athletes, coaches, and administrators can unite," said KONI Secretary General Tubagus Ade Lukman Jayadi in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Boxing management in Indonesia is indeed marked by dualism in organizational management.
He explained that KONI recognizes Pertina as its member, while Perbati is recognized as a member of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) and the international World Boxing federation.
Ade said that his party wants this problem to be ended immediately so that there is only one federation that oversees the boxing branch in Indonesia.
