Bayer Leverkusen has appointed Kasper Hjulmand to replace Erik ten Hag, who was sacked a few days ago, with a contract until June 30, 2027.
The Bundesliga club confirmed Hjulmand's appointment after he stepped down as Denmark national team coach following Euro 2024.
In that tournament, Denmark was eliminated 0-2 by Germany in the round of 16.
"We are delighted to have signed Kasper Hjulmand, whose performance we have been monitoring for a long time. He also knows the club well," said Bayer Leverkusen Managing Director of Sport Simon Rolfes on the club's website on Tuesday.
He added that Hjulmand's training methods were already well known in Leverkusen because his assistant, Ismael Camenforte, had previously worked for Leverkusen.
