Nottingham Forest has terminated its contract with Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach following rumors of a strained relationship with the club's owner, Evangelos Marinakis.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that, following the latest developments, Nuno Espirito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as head coach,” the Premier League club wrote on its X account on Tuesday.
"We thank Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at The City Ground, particularly his role in the 2024/25 season, which will always be fondly remembered in the club's history."
Nuno took charge of Forest in December 2023, leading the team to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, Forest's best finish in decades and opening up the possibility of European football.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Nuno's resignation was due to dissatisfaction with the team's preparations this season.
