Suriname beats El Salvador, Guatemala draws with Panama




 Suriname secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over El Salvador, while Guatemala held Panama to a 1-1 draw in the second match of the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the North, Central America and Caribbean zone.

In the Group A match at Estadio Cuscatlan, San Salvador, Suriname opened a 1-0 lead over hosts El Salvador through Radinio Balker's header in the 12th minute from a corner kick.

El Salvador equalized in the 73rd minute after Brayan Gil fired a shot which hit Anfernee Dijksteel and resulted in an own goal.

Suriname restored their lead in the 81st minute through Dhoraso Klas's goal, securing the points for the visitors.

Goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen put in a brilliant performance, denying El Salvador two clear chances from Brayan Gil. This result moved Suriname to the top of Group A with six points from two matches.
