Harry Kane says England are ready to tackle racism in Serbia

England national team captain Harry Kane confirmed that the Three Lions squad has prepared for the possibility of racist incidents during their visit to Serbia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

"We had a meeting and discussed UEFA's protocols. Our focus remains on the game and trying to beat Serbia on the pitch. Anything can happen, and we're ready, but ultimately, we're focused on the football," Kane was quoted as saying by ESPN on Tuesday.

The Serbian Football Federation has previously urged fans to behave themselves after being fined around 700,000 euros in the last five years for various incidents of discrimination from the stands.

As a result of the sanctions, UEFA closed the Rajiko Mitic Stadium to 15 percent capacity for the match against England.

UEFA has a three-stage protocol for dealing with discrimination.

The first stage stops the match with a public warning, the second stage suspends the match temporarily, and the third stage stops the match permanently if the situation does not change.

Kane, who also captained England during the racist abuse in Bulgaria in 2019, insisted his team would follow the rules.
