Location devices, keys to prosecution in the Paola Andrea case

Mexicali, July 13.- A tablet linked to Paola's cell phone and a GPS in a Didi vehicle owned by a company were key to bringing Sergio Daniel "N" to trial for the aggravated femicide of Paola Andrea Bañuelos.

This Saturday, in a control hearing presided over by Judge Sergio Avelar, the defendant was charged with Aggravated Enforced Disappearance and Aggravated Femicide, for which he ordered the precautionary measure of pretrial detention, along with a six-month investigation period.

Paola Andrea Bañuelos was found dead in a part of the Islas Agrarias community this Thursday.

Representatives of the Attorney General's Office, in their statement to presume Sergio Daniel's responsibility, explained that Paola's cell phone was found by investigating officers with the help of a tablet linked to the device.

The cell phone with the cracked screen was found in a vacant lot in the hands of a homeless person on Gómez Morin Boulevard.

The Prosecutor's Office requested information from Didi about Paola's trips and established that she had made one on Monday the 8th outside the "La Conse" bar.

Timeline

It was established that the taxi left at 2:15, but paused for 8 minutes and then, the driver and perpetrator of Paola resumed the scheduled route and then turned off the app.

After locating the gray Versa vehicle, investigators were able to locate the owner, who was a platform taxi rental company.

Company

The RM Logistics company showed the Prosecutor's Office a lease agreement it had with the current driver, Sergio Daniel, since June 22, and also provided information about the operation of a GPS unit on the gray Versa.
