Malut United management has officially announced the recruitment of Brazilian defender Nilson Junior to strengthen the back line for the 2025-2026 BRI Super League competition.
"The discussion between the coach and management resulted in the addition of a new player to the back line. Nilson has experience that we believe can have a positive impact on the team," said Malut United COO Willem D. Nanlohy when contacted in Ternate on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old player has agreed to a contract with Laskar Kie Raha until the end of the season. Nilson has joined Hendri Susilo's squad, which has been conducting a training camp in Gresik, East Java, since Saturday.
In fact, Nilson spent almost his entire career in Brazil, playing for 16 clubs and winning two titles. One trophy came with Club de Regatas in the regional Campeonato Alagoano (2015), and the other with Treze in the Campeonato Paraibano (2020).
The defender, born in Aracaju, Brazil, on September 9, 1991, played in Europe for Portuguese Premier League club Moreirense for one season (2012-2013). Nilson also enjoyed a career in Iran with Sepahan (2022-2023).
For his last club, Operariro Ferroviario Esporte (2024-2025), Nilson made five appearances, three of them as a starter. He played a total of 347 minutes for the second-tier Brazilian club.
