Mataram City Police have named 12 suspects in a case of vandalism that led to looting and burning of the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial People's Representative Council building during a demonstration protesting the increase in DPRD member allowances on August 30, 2025.
"Eight adults have been named as suspects for the vandalism and looting, and four children have also been named in conflict with the law," said Acting Deputy Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Regional Police, Senior Commissioner of Police Ni Made Pujawati, in a press conference at the NTB Regional Police Headquarters in Mataram on Wednesday.
Pujawati explained that her team had arrested and detained the adult suspects. The child suspects, who are students, were returned to their parents.
"Children in conflict with the law have been sent home and are under parental supervision, and we will undertake diversion efforts in their best interests," he said.
The police named 12 people as suspects by applying criminal charges contained in Article 170 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and Article 406 of the Criminal Code.
