MediaTek announced that the company has become one of the companies partnering with chip manufacturer TSMC to develop 2nm chips and is ready for mass production.
This chip features an enhanced N2P process, and MediaTek has already created a tape-out, or final design, ready for mass production for its flagship system-on-chip (SoC). Mass production of the chip is expected to begin no later than late next year.
“MediaTek’s innovation powered by TSMC’s 2nm technology underscores our industry leadership, as we continue to advance with the most advanced semiconductor process technology available for a wide range of devices and applications,” said MediaTek President Joe Chen in a statement on Thursday.
TSMC's 2nm technology was the first to adopt the nanosheet transistor structure , and N2P represents the next evolution in the 2nm family, which will deliver improved performance and energy savings.
The first chipsets using TSMC's new N2P process are expected to be available in late 2026.
