Meta introduces smart glasses with screen and hand gesture control

Meta introduced the latest Ray-Ban brand smart glasses equipped with a mini screen to display applications, notifications, and navigation on the right lens which is controlled via a bracelet called the Meta Neural Band which can recognize the user's subtle hand gestures.

As reported by Tech Crunch on Thursday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a product called the Meta Ray-Ban Display at the annual Meta Connect 2025 developer conference. Unlike last year's Orion research project, the Ray-Ban Display is ready to be marketed and will go on sale on September 30, 2025, for US$799 (Rp13.1 million).

These smart glasses are Meta's latest attempt to create a consumer device that can replace some smartphone functions. Meta has previously relied on devices made by Google and Apple to reach users.

After pouring billions of dollars into developing virtual reality headsets , Meta now sees artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smart glasses as a key path to connecting directly with consumers through its own hardware.
