Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasized the importance of strengthening postal and telecommunications services or postel at the 80th Postel Bhakti Day ceremony in Bandung, West Java, Saturday.
The struggle of the Young Post, Telegraph and Telephone Force in Bandung to take over the Post, Telegraph and Telephone Service (PTT) from the Japanese government on September 27, 1945, according to him, reminded us of the importance of connectivity for the nation's sovereignty.
"This event reminds us that communications sovereignty is a very important and inseparable part of national sovereignty," he said while delivering his briefing as the leader of the 80th Postal and Telecommunications Service Day ceremony.
Meutya said that PTT, which later became the Postal Museum, was a witness to the importance of mastering the means of disseminating information.
In addition, he emphasized the importance of building economic independence by improving national distribution channels in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's directives.
