Mexico City, May 23.- Ricardo Monreal reaffirmed his parliamentary group's unreserved support for his candidate for governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal, and affirmed that Morena legislators and their allies will not abandon him alone and will uphold the will of the people of that state.
At the offices of the Political Coordination Board, accompanied by the Morena candidate, the party's national president, Mario Delgado, and the party's general secretary, Citlalli Hernández, as well as representatives and senators, Monreal Ávila stated that his colleagues are pleased that Américo Villarreal managed to leave "his mark on the Senate" because he is an honest man.
"We are pleased that Américo Villarreal has managed to leave his mark on the Senate. His colleagues love him, admire him, and have always known he is an honest, decent, and consistent man that Tamaulipas needs," he said.
Monreal Ávila explained that the reason for this meeting, which included 30 senators from various states, is because Américo Villareal is his counterpart and because the Senate is the guardian of the federal pact. Therefore, he added, the senators of Morena and their allies have decided to "close ranks" around their candidate, whom they will support at all times.
Ricardo Monreal called for civility and a truce to end the climate of hostility that exists in this state.
Let us allow, he said, citizens to vote freely, without fear, without threats, and without pressure.
"It's time for democracy, it's time for political maturity, it's time for an orderly political transition. The senators of the parliamentary majority, unanimously, have joined forces with the candidate for governor of Tamaulipas. We will not leave the man who, by popular and democratic decision, will govern this state alone," he stated.
The Zacatecas native made it clear that legislators will remain attentive to the June 5 electoral process to demand compliance with the law and to restore civility and respect for the popular vote.
