Morena Senator Armando Guadiana dies

Saltillo, Coahuila, December 26.- The politician and businessman from Coahuila, Armando Guadiana, 77, died early Tuesday morning in a private clinic in Monterrey, Nuevo León, where he had been hospitalized for problems arising from the prostate cancer he had suffered since 2017.

The news of his death was announced by his spokesperson, elected local representative Alberto Hurtado Vera.
He was elected Senator of the Republic in 2018, but last October, he retired from the Senate on permanent leave to address health issues.

Guadiana "was battling prostate cancer, a condition he had been suffering from since 2017. The Senator from Coahuilense had been undergoing treatment in Houston, Texas. Some time later, he was admitted to a private hospital in Monterrey, where he died.

The businessman and politician's family will announce in the coming hours the funeral services to be held in Saltillo, Coahuila, in memory of Armando Guadiana," Hurtado said in a statement.

The Coahuila politician was a civil engineer and held a master's degree in science from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM). He held various positions in his state, including director general of the Land Registry. He was also a local deputy. He ran for governor of Coahuila twice and was elected to the Senate in 2018.

Cecilia Guadiana, the senator's daughter and Morena's pre-candidate for the same position, posted a message on social media about her father's death.

“My heart breaks with sadness. I thank God and life for having had the blessing of having you as a father. Lucky is the one who crossed your path. You leave a great legacy, father, but above all, your beautiful way of enjoying life, and boy, did you make the most of every minute of it. I love you and will miss you, but always by my side,” she wrote alongside several photos with her dad.
