Ensenada, April 18. With the goal of promoting Mexico's cultural richness internationally through its music, the Natalia Arroyo Ensemble will tour Washington and Maryland for eight days, beginning April 23.
The Natalia Arroyo Ensemble is led by the talented violinist and composer from Ensenada, Natalia Arroyo, who has dedicated herself to traditional Mexican music for more than 20 years, obtaining various recognitions such as the Lunas del Auditorio Award in 2015, Creator with a Career in 2018, and FONCA Traditional Musicians in 2021.
She is accompanied by Edwin Montes, a renowned and award-winning guitarist who has developed his artistic career in Baja California, and José Luis Rodríguez, a double bassist and teacher at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC).
The Inter-American Development Bank Staff Association Annual Meeting in Washington and Salisbury University in Maryland will be the venues where the group will showcase its talent.
During this tour, the Natalia Arroyo Ensemble will present its latest album, "Reconectado Raíces ," a project supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Renowned singer Eugenia León wrote the liner notes for the album, among which is the following quote: “The beautiful work of Natalia Arroyo Ensamble in this production reminds me of the aroma of coffee: it is a port, it is a flowery balcony, it is damp earth, it is a gaze of burning eyes, it is a love that is remembered, it is the ancient soul in young flesh, it is a soft wind on the face, it is essence and tradition .”
After the performances in the United States, the ensemble will return home to share their album with the Ensenada public. The performance will take place on May 28th at the Experimental Forum of the Ensenada State Center for the Arts (Cearte).
