OpenAI seeks partnerships with Samsung and SK for AI infrastructure

OpenAI is reportedly seeking partnerships with several South Korean technology companies, such as Samsung and SK Hynix Inc., to build artificial intelligence ( AI ) infrastructure.

"I think there are many ways to partner with OpenAI in terms of building infrastructure at the physical data center construction level," said Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at OpenAI, at a press conference in Seoul, as quoted by Yonhap News Agency, in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/9).

Furthermore, Jason mentioned the names of Samsung and SK Hynix when discussing hardware chips for AI.

He believes the partnership with the two South Korean technology companies is a good option.

SK Hynix and Samsung are currently among the global leaders in the memory market, with SK Hynix particularly dominating the high- bandwidth memory (HBM) sector, a critical component for AI computing and data centers.
