OpenAI together with Oracle and SoftBank build five new data centers in the US

OpenAI announced plans to build five new artificial intelligence (AI) data centers in the United States (US) with its partners Oracle and SoftBank through the Stargate project.

With this addition, Stargate's planned capacity will reach seven gigawatts, or the equivalent of energy to power more than five million homes.

As reported by Tech Crunch on Wednesday, three of the new data centers are being developed in collaboration with Oracle, located in Shackelford County, Texas; Doña Ana County, New Mexico; and another location in the Midwest that has not yet been announced.

Meanwhile, two other data centers were built with SoftBank, namely in Lordstown, Ohio and Milam County, Texas.

The Stargate AI data center is part of OpenAI's massive infrastructure expansion, as the company seeks to train and operate more powerful AI models.
