PGN reduces waste from Jombang tofu factory through IPAL construction

PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is trying to help reduce tofu factory waste in Jombang, East Java, by building a Communal Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) that will accommodate approximately 88 home-based tofu businesses.

The construction of the IPAL was carried out as a form of Social Responsibility (CSR) to implement the Community Development program for Environmentally Aware, Hygienic and Famous Food Villages (BERSINAR).

"PGN is collaborating with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Jombang Regional Government to formulate an integrated solution to address existing environmental issues," said PGN's Director of Human Resources and Business Support, Rachmat Hutama, in Surabaya on Tuesday.

Of the 88 tofu factories operating in Jogoroto District, each requires a daily supply of 84 tons of soybeans.
