The East Java Regional Police's TAA results found no traces of brakes on the bus involved in the fatal accident in Bromo






The results of the crime scene processing carried out by the East Java Regional Police Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) team stated that no traces of braking were found on the P 7221 UGI tourist bus which had an accident on Jalan Raya Bromo, Probolinggo Regency.

"No signs of braking were found at the scene. The bus hit the cliff wall on the right side of the road with quite a strong impact. The victims who died were generally sitting on the right side of the bus," said East Java Regional Police Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Iwan Saktiadi.

The long impact on the bus body on the right side resulted in severe damage, broken glass, and the bus body was deformed.

The results of statements from a number of witnesses from surviving bus passengers stated that most of the victims who died were sitting in the fourth row of seats to the back right side.

The bus accident on the Bromo route resulted in eight people dying, nine people seriously injured, and 35 others suffering minor injuries.

Some of the victims with minor injuries have been allowed to go home, while those with serious injuries are still undergoing treatment at Bina Sehat Hospital, Jember.

"The bus driver, Al Bahri, is currently still being treated for a fractured left hand, while the bus conductor, Mergi, survived the incident," he said.
