The Mataram City Police are collaborating with the Bali Regional Police Forensic Laboratory to investigate the cause of the fire that broke out at the West Nusa Tenggara Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) building during a demonstration on August 30, 2025.
"So, based on the results of the crime scene investigation and evidence from documents and several tools used in the action as well as the burned items at the NTB DPRD building, we brought them to the Bali Regional Police Forensic Laboratory. We are still waiting for the results," said Head of the Mataram Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Regi Halili in a press conference at the NTB Regional Police Headquarters, Mataram, Wednesday.
In investigating the cause of the fire at the NTB DPRD building, police officers also questioned dozens of witnesses, all of whom came from NTB DPRD circles.
"Starting from the security guard (security unit) on duty, the general affairs head, and the regional secretary, those are the witnesses we have summoned," he said.
Once the results of the investigation into the cause of the fire are published, Regi assured that it will also be revealed whether the building was deliberately set on fire or whether it was purely the result of protesters' actions.
"The link to who the perpetrator of the arson is is still under investigation, we are still waiting for the forensic results," he said.
