United States (US) technology giant Qualcomm on Wednesday (24/9) launched the world's fastest mobile system-on-a-chip (SoC) and the latest generation of personal computer (PC) processors at its annual technology conference in Maui, Hawaii, US.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, Qualcomm's most powerful mobile central processing unit (CPU) to date, is designed to deliver revolutionary user experiences and set new industry benchmarks, the company said.

"This platform enables personalized artificial intelligence (AI) agents to see what you see, hear what you hear, and think with you in real time," said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm's mobile handset division. "The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 pushes the boundaries of personal AI, letting you experience the future of mobile technology today."

At the annual conference, Qualcomm also introduced two advanced processors for Windows-based PCs: the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite.

Both processors offer superior performance, multi-day battery life, and incredible AI capabilities, making them the fastest and most efficient processors ever built for Windows PCs, the company said.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is designed for ultra-premium PCs, supporting agent-based AI experiences, complex data analysis, professional media editing, and scientific research. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon X2 Elite offers powerful and efficient multitasking capabilities for productivity, creativity, and entertainment in demanding workloads.
